Feeding Guidelines

Add warm water, leave to soak for 5 mins to make a tasty mash, and feed whilst warm (do not use boiling hot water). Cold water can be used to make a mash but leave to soak for 10 mins. Warm water will release the aromas for a more appetising mash. Feed one part mix to five parts water (eg 100g of Ulsa-X – Prebiotic Mash to 500ml warm water). As with any dry feed, be aware that animals that bolt their feed may be at risk of choke. For these animals, soaking thoroughly to make a mash is recommended.

Lower rate as a supplement: For horses in stressful conditions such as competing, travelling, with frequent changes to routine or diet, convalescing horses, horses post surgery, post antibiotics, post chemical wormer, on box rest, older horses, etc
50g to 100g two or three times per day

Higher rate as a feed: For horses requiring weight gain
100g to 200g per 100kg bodyweight per day, split between meals (eg 250g to 500g twice per day for a 500kg horse).

    Sue Ajax-Lewis

After a severe bout of colic, my 33 year old PBA struggled to regain his condition and as a formerly good doer, this was of great concern. He no longer looked ‘bonny’ however much he ate. He seemed ‘dull’.
Research into nutrition led me to Thunderbrook. What immediately appealed was their commitment to the dietary welfare of horses and their mission and care to keep their feeds as natural and nutritious as possible.

Ulsa-x is a prebiotic supplementary feed which, as I understand it, helps to balance the bacterias in the gut, thereby allowing the horse to gain as much goodness as possible from his or her feed while it is in the body instead of just passing through.
I feel you lose the integrity of quality feed if it is not going to be thoroughly and beneficially digested.
I felt this support was very important for an elderly and possibly less efficient digestive system.
I’m sure everyone in my yard is fed up with hearing me going on about nutrition but it is the foundation stone of health.
I believe that Ulsa-x allows my boy to digest every last ounce of goodness from his (Thunderbrook) feeds.
It shows in the weight he has regained, the shine on his coat and his eyes are bright and alert,
(looking for his next feed!) He is happy in himself again. For his age he’s amazing..
    Thank you Thunderbrook.
