Our feeds and supplements are formulated using the latest scientific research to nutritionally support the health of your horse. In doing so, we only use quality ingredients, which have been specifically sourced to avoid chemical treatments, artificial additives, preservatives and mould inhibitors.
We use NO waste by-products, no cheap alternative ingredients, no fillers, no binders, no pelleting agents, no preservatives or synthetic micronutrients.
Our feeds are also formulated to the best specification for their use, containing high levels of active ingredients. For example, when we include probiotics, prebiotics and herbs, they are added in generous amounts, not just a pinch to say they have been included!
Our feeds and supplements are formulated by an expert biochemist and nutritionist with many years’ experience of horse husbandry. We also use the services of some of the best analytical laboratories in the UK and we have access to the finest feed formulation software, enabling us to formulate feeds and supplements for customised and specialist needs.
Quality Assurance
At Thunderbrook, 🐎 we manufacture all our feeds according to strict quality controls and rigorous feed safety codes. Our horse feeds are manufactured in UFAS approved mills.
UFAS (Universal Feed Assurance Scheme) is based on HACCP principles, a system originally pioneered by space agency NASA, but now forming the bedrock of EU Food and Feed legislation.
The scheme is audited and certified by an independent certification body, in accordance with the internationally recognised standard EN45011 (also known as ISO Guide 65). This means that the certification body is itself independently assessed every year to ensure that the standard is implemented and administered consistently and fairly. Partly as a result of this independence of inspection, local authorities now include participation in UFAS in their risk assessments of feed businesses.
What this means for you, our customers, is that you have assurance that all our products are manufactured to the highest standards and only using approved ingredients.
Our Organic Range of feeds and organic straights are certified by the Soil Association. Certified products must legally comply with rigorous organic regulation. They must also meet additional higher standards set in place by the Soil Association.
Here at Thunderbrook Equestrian, we are concerned about the impact genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are having on our natural world, and as a result, horses health. GMOs result in an increase in the use pesticides & herbicides in the growing and harvesting of crops.
We are committed to:
- Using only GMO free ingredients in our feeds.
- Promoting the sale of Organic Feed and/or Non-GMO feed.
- Continually educating our staff and customers on the dangers of GMOs and on their right to know what is in their horses feed.
- To never use Soya, or any Soya based products in our feeds.
